Pros:

  • Durable and long-lasting chews that withstand aggressive chewing, providing excellent entertainment for dogs.
  • Made with real flavors like bacon and fish, ensuring dogs stay interested and engaged with chewing.
  • USA-made products give peace of mind regarding quality and safety, appealing to dog owners who prioritize domestically sourced toys.

Cons:

  • Some toys in the pack, like the rolling toy, are made of plastic instead of nylon, leading to durability concerns and potential choking hazards.
  • The flavor options, particularly the fish toy, may pose safety risks as aggressive chewers can easily damage them, leading to sharp points.
  • Initial strong odors from the toys can be off-putting, even if they fade over time.

How does it work?

The Benebone Medium 4-Pack is designed specifically for aggressive chewers, utilizing high-quality nylon that is much tougher than traditional dog bones. Each pack includes four different chew toys infused with real flavors such as bacon and fish, attracting your dog’s natural instincts to chew and gnaw. The unique shape and contour of the Benebones allow for a paw-friendly grip, enabling dogs to easily pick them up and enjoy extended chewing sessions.

The manufacturing process ensures the toys are durable, lasting weeks even in the jaws of the most persistent chewers. Furthermore, the toys are made in the USA to guarantee safety and quality. While designed for chewing, they should be used with supervision to avoid any risks of choking or allergic reactions, as some dogs may have sensitivities to materials used. Regular wear and tear of the toys is expected, and owners are advised to monitor their dogs and discard any toys that show signs of damage. This makes the Benebone chews not only an engaging and flavorful option for pets but also a responsible choice for pet owners.

I’m always looking for durable products, and these Benebone chew toys are no exception. My medium-sized dog, who loves to chew, has met his match with these toys. They have been a lifesaver, keeping him entertained and away from chewing on furniture or shoes. What stood out to me immediately was the sturdiness of these toys. My dog has a knack for destroying most toys within days, but these have held up remarkably well. The variety in the pack is fantastic, offering different shapes and flavors, which keeps my dog interested. It’s clear they are designed with aggressive chewers in mind. One thing I appreciate is that these are made in the USA, which gives me confidence in their quality and safety. My dog seems to love the flavors, and it’s great to see him so content gnawing away. The size is just right for him, and he can carry them around easily. On the downside, the initial smell was a bit strong, but it faded after a few days. Additionally, while they are durable, small pieces can break off after prolonged chewing, so supervision is necessary. In all, these Benebone chew toys have been a fantastic addition to my dog’s toy collection. They are tough, engaging, and have definitely reduced the amount of destructive chewing around the house. I highly recommend them to anyone with a dog that loves to chew.

I was not paying well enough attention when I first bought this puppy box set. I had bought two-pack or individual benebones before but never this special kit. I have a couple of reasons why I wouldn’t recommend it.Our corgi puppy is a fierce chewer, and overall the benebones have held up pretty well for her throughout the puppy stage (10 weeks to approx 6 months). We got this kit right around the 6-month mark. It was on sale, so we actually got two boxes.First, I don’t recommend this kit because the rolling toy one is not nylon, like normal, but rather some kind of green plastic. I didn’t even notice in the picture; I just overlooked it during the holiday rush. When I got it in the two-pack set before, it was always the normal nylon. This green plastic version makes a horrid squelching sound when she chews on it that makes me really anxious about her potentially eating it and/or hurting herself, and the plastic breaks off easily and quickly. I took it away from her as the two ends very quickly deteriorated. I didn’t want her to bite off a chunk and swallow it when I wasn’t looking. So, this box set is more like a box set of 3 than 4, and I realized the value wasn’t there for us.Secondly, I wouldn’t recommend this set because of the fish. The two-packs didn’t have a fish in them, so this was new for us. She loves the fish so much… but she always looks for the weakest point on any chew toy (or stuffed toy, which we pretty much can’t give her anymore now at ~7 months), and on this fish, it’s the nose. She chewed it up so quickly and basically tried to eat it off. It reaches a super sharp point. The rest of the fish is like-new, yet the nose is a safety hazard. I don’t have this issue with any of the other shapes — the wishbone, the tree branch/stick, the rolly toy, the two-handled dental chew… they’re all fine. She wears them down normally, and we get at least 1-2 weeks out of each depending on frequency of use.The fish lasted like 1-2 days, max, and the green rolly lasted not even one night, really. As a point of reference, now that she’s 7 months and most of her baby teeth have come out, we’ve swapped to the ‘small’ harder model of benebone and find it a better fit. We are happy with the company in general. They have a helpful video about when to throw away the bones — and they have a recycling program for the bones, but I haven’t tried it yet. I just have a small growing collection waiting to mail to them. Their safety page on their website says, ‘the product can be smoothed with a wood file or heavy-grit sandpaper. ‘ I may try to do that to the fish to regain life out of it since it’s just the nose that is so problematic. If this kit had the normal nylon rolly toy (rather than the green plastic) and another shape instead of the fish, like the dental chew, it would be 5/5 & highly recommended.Hope this helps others. I know each dog is different.

Tough Chews for Tough Pups: The Ultimate Review of Benebone

In summary, Benebone’s Medium 4-Pack provides a solid and enticing option for aggressive chewers, particularly with its durable design and enticing real flavors that keep dogs happily engaged. Many dog owners have praised the toughness of these toys, noting their effectiveness in curbing destructive chewing habits. However, some users have raised valid concerns regarding certain pieces in the pack, such as the variant made from plastic and the safety issues with the fish toy. These mixed experiences highlight the importance of supervision during playtime while also underscoring the need for potential buyers to evaluate their dog’s unique chewing style. Overall, for those looking to invest in long-lasting chew toys, Benebones present a promising choice, though it’s essential to choose individual shapes wisely to ensure safety and durability.
